Roja Narayan, M.D.

Choice. It's a powerful thing. It's what defines us and makes us who we are. Our daily choices are what pave our future. Choice applies to every aspect of our lives, including our health.

I'll be honest. I never wanted to be a doctor. Growing up, I was terrified of needles and despised hospitals. Little did I know, the universe had other plans for me. Like the rest of us, I am a product of my upbringing.

I was born and brought up in sunny Southern Florida with strict, conservative parents. My Dad, now retired, was a hardworking Cardiologist, fiercely dedicated to his work and patients. My mother is a mother a jack of all trades and the head of our household. She is a healer at heart and the one who first exposed me to meditation, yoga, mindfulness, and all the wonderful healing modalities that encompass Eastern medicine. It is no surprise that I've found my niche blending Family Medicine with Functional and Integrative Medicine. What a powerful combination, and what an honor to be able to serve my patients and community every day.

Empowerment. I love that word. It's what I hope to pass on to each of my beloved patients. We live in a fast-paced, stressed society, consequently with rising numbers of autoimmunity and cancer. No doubt this elicits a sense of fear. I strive to equip patients with the tools and proper guidance to lower systemic inflammation, rebuild the immune system and reverse/prevent disease, thereby restoring health and regaining a sense of empowerment. The great news is that I've got plenty of tools in my toolbox for patients to choose from, not just conventional pharmaceuticals. Of course, my prized and most powerful tool of all is food!

The practice of Functional Medicine is personalized to every individual. It's not about masking symptoms with medications. It's about addressing the root cause and fostering the body's innate ability to heal. My absolute favorite is transitioning families as a whole. The deep bond I share with my patients is a gift. After all, it is only when we partner together that optimal health may be achieved.

Outside of the office, you'll find me hanging out with my sweet family. Yes, I am a blessed Mama of two amazing kiddos and have an awesome husband who is my everything. And I can't forget our two fur babies! My family is a steadfast reminder of the importance of unconditional love and laughter. To see and experience the world through the eyes of a child is illuminating. I love how our children challenge us to be the best version of ourselves each day.

What an honor it is to be working here at TCIM with an esteemed and inspiring group of Practitioners who continue to boldly challenge the limits of traditional healthcare to offer our patients the very best in health. An incredible concept a dream come true. I am so grateful.
